Towards National Accreditation: A Strategic Workshop at the College of Pharmacy 

As part of the continuous efforts by the College of Pharmacy to enhance academic excellence and fulfill the requirements for the Pharmacy Program Accreditation by the National Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Colleges (NCAPC), a comprehensive practical workshop was held today, Tuesday, June 23, 2026, for the members of the college’s accreditation committees.

At the commencement of the workshop, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hunar Kamal Gardi, delivered an opening speech, warmly welcoming the distinguished guests. He emphasized the strategic importance of obtaining program accreditation in elevating the college’s scientific and academic standing across all dimensions, reaffirming his unwavering support for the success of this process.

The workshop, titled “Steps Toward NCAPC Accreditation,” featured insightful presentations and practical sessions led by:
🔹 Asst. Prof. Dr. Ghaidaa Suleiman Hameed – Rapporteur of the National Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Colleges (NCAPC) and Faculty Member at the College of Pharmacy, Mustansiriya University.
🔹 Dr. Athmar Dhahir Habeeb – Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs at the College of Pharmacy, Mustansiriya University.
🔹 Coordinated by Prof. Dr. Aladdin Mohammed Naqishbandi – Rapporteur of the Accreditation Committee at the College of Pharmacy, Hawler Medical University.

🔸 A briefing on the preparatory steps taken by the College of Pharmacy at Hawler Medical University toward achieving program accreditation.
🔸 An introduction to program accreditation, its definitions, and objectives, alongside the formation and responsibilities of the Self-Study Report (SSR) committees.
🔸 An in-depth analysis of the SSR components, including SWOT Analysis, Improvement Plan Reports, and Accreditation Compatibility Reports.

Practical Training Sessions:
A significant portion of the workshop was dedicated to hands-on training. Participants were divided into seven specialized groups based on accreditation pillars. The sessions focused on:
✨ Task distribution among committee members for effective evidence gathering.
✨ Practical exercises on drafting the SSR for each specific pillar.
✨ Presentation of group findings and summary reports by each group coordinator.

Conclusion and Recognition:
The workshop concluded with an open discussion on the outcomes and future steps. In appreciation of their valuable contributions, the Dean of the College presented Certificates of Appreciation to the guest speakers for their expertise and support in advancing the college’s accreditation journey.
