The College of Pharmacy at Hawler Medical University is the first college of pharmacy established
in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Founded in 1997 as part of the University of Salahaddin-Erbil, the
College became one of the founding colleges of Hawler Medical University following the University's
establishment in 2005. Since then, it has played a pioneering role in pharmaceutical education,
scientific research, and community healthcare services in the region.
The College is committed to preparing highly competent pharmacists, researchers, and healthcare
professionals through a comprehensive academic environment that integrates quality education,
innovative research, practical training, and professional ethics. Our graduates are equipped with
the scientific knowledge, clinical skills, and leadership qualities necessary to meet the evolving
healthcare needs of society.
The College offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including the Bachelor of Science
(B.Sc.) in Pharmacy, Higher Diploma, Master of Science (M.Sc.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
degrees in various pharmaceutical disciplines. Academic activities are supported by experienced
faculty members, well-equipped teaching and research laboratories, modern learning facilities,
and collaborations with national and international academic and healthcare institutions.
Our academic structure comprises five departments:
• Department of Pharmaceutics
• Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology
• Department of Clinical Pharmacy
• Department of Clinical Analysis
• Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy
Beyond education, the College actively contributes to advancing pharmaceutical sciences through
high-quality research, continuing professional development, scientific conferences, community
outreach programs, and partnerships with healthcare organizations and regulatory authorities. These
initiatives strengthen our role in improving healthcare services and supporting the pharmaceutical
sector in Iraq.
