The Medical Research Center, Hawler Medical University has successfully concluded a five-day training course on
“Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR): Workflow and Applications” held from January 21 to 29, 2026. The course took place in the Centre’s own laboratory and was led by Assistant Professor Ashti Mohammad Amin Said and Assistant Lecturer Rebwar Jalal Ali.
Participants from multiple academic departments gained practical experience and in-depth understanding of PCR principles and laboratory workflows. Polymerase Chain Reaction is a fundamental molecular biology technique used to amplify specific DNA sequences, enabling detailed genetic study and diagnostics in research and clinical settings.
During the training, students and academic staff practised key steps involved in PCR, including preparation of reaction mixtures, use of thermal cyclers, and interpretation of results. This hands-on course strengthened participants’ laboratory competencies and enhanced their readiness for research and diagnostic work in molecular biology.
The Medical Research Center extends its appreciation to all instructors and attendees for their active participation and commitment, reaffirming the Centre’s dedication to academic excellence and practical skills development.
