As part of the Faculty Development Meeting, Lecturer Haval Abdulkhalik, Molecular Microbiologist, delivered a session on Institutional Security and Safety Frameworks, highlighting the importance of integrating biosafety, biosecurity, and institutional security within higher education. The presentation emphasized safe laboratory practices, biological risk management, protection of sensitive research materials and data, and the prevention of insider threats. It also highlighted the role of risk assessment, access control, cybersecurity, and staff awareness in safeguarding research integrity and strengthening institutional resilience. The session reinforced the importance of a comprehensive, risk-based approach to maintaining a secure, safe, and resilient academic environment.
