On 9 March 2022, a team from the World Health Organization (WHO) visited the College of Medicine of Hawler Medical University. An initial meeting was held at the Dean's

office where areas of collaboration in the different fields of medical education and health system strengthening were discussed and explored. Then, a meeting was held with a groups of students, where Dr. Ahmed Zawiten, representative of the WHO in Iraq and Dr. Richard Brennan, Director of Emergency and Preparedness at the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office, presented insightful and important speeches about strengthening the health system in post COVID-19 era and emphasized the importance of public health as a profession and field of work in the difficult situations such as COVID-19 pandemic.
