Workshop Report: Using Smart Boards and Online Teaching in Nursing Education

The College of Nursing at Hawler Medical University successfully conducted a specialized academic workshop titled “Using Smart Boards and Online Teaching in Nursing Education” . This initiative was organized as part of the college’s ongoing commitment to advancing innovative teaching methodologies and strengthening digital competencies among nursing educators.

The workshop was delivered collaboratively by a distinguished academic team, including Assist Lecturer. Khaleed Mohammed Shaikhah, Assist Prof. Dr. Chnar Salahaddin Qadir, and Assist Lecture Ahmed Naif. Their combined expertise ensured a balanced integration of theoretical insights and practical applications tailored to contemporary nursing education.

This workshop aimed to enhance participants’ understanding and application of modern educational technologies. Key objectives included developing proficiency in the use of smart boards, introducing interactive teaching techniques, and equipping educators with fundamental skills for effective online instruction. Particular emphasis was placed on improving student engagement, simplifying the delivery of complex clinical concepts, and integrating digital tools into routine teaching practices.

The session was attended by approximately 50 academic staff members, reflecting strong institutional interest in digital transformation within higher education. The workshop structure combined interactive lectures with hands-on practice, allowing participants to directly engage with smart board functionalities and simulate real-time online teaching scenarios.

Throughout the workshop, participants actively engaged in discussions and practical exercises, demonstrating a high level of interest in adopting innovative teaching tools.
