Gallery Walk Activity for Teaching the Stages of Labour

The College of Nursing conducted an engaging Gallery Walk concept-mapping activity for third-year nursing students, designed to enhance their understanding of the primary stages of labour. The session encouraged active participation, collaboration, and reflective learning.

The activity was supervised by Assist. Lect Srwa Abdulrahman and Assist. Lect. Jwan Karim, who provided clear guidance and ensured the successful implementation of the learning tasks. Their support strengthened the students’ confidence and mastery of the topic.

This instructional approach promotes deeper learning by encouraging students to work in teams, share insights, and construct knowledge together—skills essential for effective nursing practice.

During the activity, students collaborated to organize key information related to the stages and mechanisms of labour, potential complications, essential nursing interventions, and the development of clinical reasoning and critical-thinking abilities.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Assistant Professor Dr. Vian Naqshbandi, Dean of the College of Nursing, for her continuous support of such educational initiatives. A special thanks is also extended to our dedicated students and both esteemed instructors for their active contribution to this enriching activity.
