The Center for Research and Education in Women's Health (CREWH) was established at Hawler Medical University in 2016 through an IREX-supported project funded by the U.S. Embassy, in collaboration with the University at Albany, State University of New York. It was among the first academic centers in the Kurdistan Region devoted specifically to women's health.
The Center conducts field research and specialized studies on the health problems facing women in the region, and trains researchers and health professionals to address them. Its work also extends to the community through awareness campaigns and health education programs.
Over the years, CREWH has organized a series of scientific conferences on women's health, along with regular workshops, seminars, and training courses. Its activities cover a wide range of topics, from maternal and reproductive health to chronic disease, mental health, occupational safety, and the prevention of violence against women.
The Center works to publish its research in international journals and to build partnerships with local and international institutions concerned with women's health.
