In the presence of Mr. Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, Dr. Dlovan Mohammad, Director General of Health in Erbil, Professor Dr. Bassam Karim Amin, Dean of the College of Dentistry, along with department heads, faculty members, students, and a number of doctors and specialists, the Second Oral and Maxillofacial Cancer Awareness Campaign was launched at Grand Majidi Mall.
The objective of this campaign is to raise the level of awareness and protect the community from oral and maxillofacial cancer, as well as to support cancer patients. The proceeds from this project will be dedicated to supporting those battling the disease.
The ceremony was organized by Hawler Medical University - College of Dentistry, in coordination with Nanakaly Hospital. Attended by health officials, university leadership, and medical experts, the event highlighted the vital importance of spreading health awareness within society and encouraging citizens to undergo early screenings. Such proactive measures play a crucial role in the early diagnosis and the ultimate success of the treatment process.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, the Governor of Erbil expressed his appreciation to the organizers, Hawler Medical University, the College of Dentistry, and Nanakaly Hospital for initiating this campaign. He emphasized the significance of this step, noting that such health activities are essential for community protection, as awareness and early detection are the primary keys to saving lives.
Furthermore, he reaffirmed that the Erbil Governorate will continue to support and assist scientific and humanitarian projects that serve the health sector and enhance medical awareness across the province, with the ultimate goal of fostering a healthy and disease-free society.
